Poulter (64) continues hot streak at RBC

Amid a torrid stretch of golf, Ian Poulter is showing no signs of slowing down.Poulter barely snuck into the field last month at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, where a run to the quarterfinals left him on the brink of qualifying for the Masters. He got the job done with a playoff win at the Houston Open to snag the final ticket to Augusta, then tied for 44th last week.Playing in his sixth PGA Tour event in as many weeks, the good vibes continued for the Englishman Friday at the RBC Heritage where a bogey-free 64 moved him to 9 under and gave him a share of the lead when he completed his round.

"(Running on) fumes I think right now," Poulter told reporters. "Six weeks in a row is really unusual. I don't normally do that, but obviously circumstances need be. I put myself in position to make the Masters. I did it. And then I obviously committed to this a few weeks ago, so I wasn't going to miss it. It's a good course."Poulter birdied No. 10 to start the morning, then made a move up the leaderboard with four birdies in a five-hole stretch beginning on No. 15. At the close of the morning wave he was tied for the lead with Si Woo Kim, who edged Poulter to win The Players in May.Last year Poulter was three shots off the lead through three rounds at Harbour Town before closing with a 73 to drop into a tie for 11th. But buoyed by his breakthrough win in Houston, the veteran enters the weekend in contention for what would be his second victory in a three-week span."Confidence is definitely there from a perspective of feeling like I can be more aggressive right now," Poulter said. "The win helps a lot. I can free myself up in my mind. I can start attacking pins and just play free golf. And when you're in that position, sometimes the game feels easy when sometimes it isn't."

We all know how tough Riviera's 18th hole can be. Just don't tell Cameron Tringale, who, with 82 yards left for his third shot to the par-4, did this.

My favorite hole on this golf course is the reachable par-4 15th. The reason I love it is because of how many times you walk off with a par or worse and you beat yourself up for not playing it a different way off the tee than what you originally planned. You're wondering why there two pictures of the same hole?
